Competency Modeling

A Competency Model describes and analyzes the different roles and responsibilities of an organization’s jobs. This framework is used to develop specific training goals, individual performance objectives, and strategies for day-to-day functions at every level of your organization.

It gives an in-depth look into an organization’s workforce, identifies skills gaps, and builds knowledge bases that can be incorporated into current skill competencies. It also allows for transparency in the organization regarding career paths and transferable skills.

Competency models help all aspects of people management, including recruitment and selection, on-boarding and off-boarding, training and development, career development, talent acquisition, and succession planning.

For people management practice, a competency model can be used at all levels, from entry-level to senior managers, and is based on a set of core skills that determine how an employee/manager performs and develops people.
