Employee Assistance Programs or EAPs are corporate programs aimed at aiding employees manage their personal and professional issues that can interfere with and affect their work lives. Employees can talk about their problems to counseling practitioners or consultants, offering solutions and methods to help them. The issues could be a financial, relationship, mental health ailments, substance abuse, child care, etc. The company’s discretion on what issues can be included in the EAPs. There are different types of EAPs. One is internal, where a designated employee is part of the Human Resources department to offer advice and solution to employees’ problems or issues. Another is external, where you consult a professional that can help handle your issues at work.
