    The Employer Tax Identification Number (EIN) is a 9-digit tax number assigned to each business by the Internal Revenue Service. This number must be used on all paperwork submitted to the agency or state and includes income-tax returns, unemployment tax returns, state and federal employment taxes, income withholding and other federal tax payments.
