Job Area is the portion of the project that a person or team owns. It has no technical or functional meaning. The term was invented to provide a mechanism for giving credit for the components worked on by each person, regardless of where they reside geographically. Job Areas are assigned sequentially as they are created. Generally, the job area includes one or more Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and, therefore, is itself another WBS at a higher level than the individual WBSs that comprise it.
